The main campus of
the University is located 15 km north of Ernakulam city on about 180 acres in
Thrikkakara. It has two more campuses, one called Lake Side Campus situated in
Ernakulam and the other one in Pulinkunnu. Today CUSAT is not only
one of the best universities in India, but one of the most wide-ranging in its teaching and research activities.
CUSAT's
academics are at the forefront of developments in the study and application of natural
sciences,
electronics, biotechnology, photonics,
computer based disciplines, medicine,
ship technology, marine sciences, management
studies, economics, atmospheric studies, environmental studies and many other
subjects. As a result of this broad spectrum of disciplines, it has grown to the
current nine Faculties of study - with some 22 Departments, 8 Schools and 9
Centres. The University have collabrations with many universities in Europe and
North Amercia and it is the only one University in India to be chosen by the Government of Netherlands as counterpart institution for massive
financial assistance under the
