Candidates should have a masters degree (M. Sc  or M. Tech) in          Physics, Electronics, Optoelectronics, Communication, Electrical  or related fields from Cochin University of Science and Technology or any other qualification from other universities , recognised as equivalent by the Cochin University of Science and Technology can apply for the Ph. D programme.

Minimum percentage of marks / CGPA obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination shall be prescribed by the Syndicate of the University (usually above 50%)

Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities shall be eligible for concession up to 10% in the minimum eligible marks.

Candidates who have written final year examination of masters degree and awaiting results are also eligible to apply which is only provisional and they should fulfill the criteria as mentioned in the preceding paragraph in case of selection and at the time of joining the ISP.
