Received Ph. D degree from University of Bombay in 1952. He joined the Dominion Observatory, Ottawa,Canada as an NRC post doctoral fellow . During 1959-1965 he was at the faculty of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bombay. In 1965 he joined the
Department of Chemie Physique II at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. During 1967-1969 he was in the faculty of the Centre for Statistical Mechanics & Thermodynamics at the University of Texas at
Austin, USA. From 1969 he was in the faculty of Mathematical Sciences, Madras . In 1971 he joined the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. In 1983 he
retired as a professor from there and joined CUSAT faculty as an emeritus professor. His research
interest include neurophysics, non equilibrium statistical mechanics, Astrophysics-Equlibrium maintaining sphericity by magnetic stars, Geomagnetism-Variations of geomagnetic fields due to dynamo actions in ionosphere and atmospheric dynamics applying NE statistical mechanics.
